Redaction
Definition
Redaction is the permanent obscuring of specific regions — a face, a plate, a line of a document — so the information in them cannot be recovered. In video anonymization it is done by blurring or pixelating the region into the output pixels, as opposed to hiding it under a layer that could be removed.

Why it matters
Redaction is only trustworthy if it is irreversible. A black box or blur laid over a video that keeps the original underneath is not redaction — it is a cover that a downstream user can lift. True redaction changes the delivered pixels and leaves no key.
